Crucial to the TOP model are well trained and caring adult facilitators prepared to create engaging and empowering learning experiences.

A unique aspect of TOP is the requirement that youth participate in at least 1 hour per week of community service learning activity, usually a project carried out by a TOP group working together to address a community problem of interest to them.

The TOP curriculum is focused on key topics related to adolescent health and development, including building social, emotional, and life skills; developing a positive sense of self; and connecting with others.
